Command and Staff Training (CAST)

Raytheon UK has developed and supported Command and Staff Training (CAST) solutions and enhanced Higher Formation Training for the British Army and NATO for 30 years. Our CAST team integrate live, virtual, and constructive training environments that enhance realism and provide near real-time feedback to soldiers.
Each of our CAST exercises are connected to the UK Ministry of Defence’s Joint Multinational Interoperability Assurance Network, enabling multinational and inter-organisational training events.
At the heart of CAST is Raytheon UK’s Advanced Battlespace Computer Simulation (ABACUS) training technology, which is used by UK and Canadian armed forces. The high-fidelity software provides interactive, real-time battlefield simulation to support ground manoeuvre warfare troops as well as air and maritime forces.
12,000 soldiers take part in CAST exercises each year with 1,250 trained on ABACUS.
"CAST exercises are essential for preparing our commanders to operate effectively in complex and dynamic environments."
