RPS’ Electric Vehicle (EV) Skills Academy is a government funded Skills Bootcamp that provides the knowledge, skills and qualifications that technicians need to upskill and work on these new complex vehicles.

It also addresses the employers’ need to upskill their workforce or recruit for open positions to meet the rising demand.

Level 2 award in electric/hybrid vehicle routine maintenance activities

Designed for electric/hybrid vehicle repair and maintenance technicians. Includes all the skills and knowledge required to work safely around a vehicle's high- and low-voltage electrical systems and electric drivetrain systems whilst carrying out repairs or maintenance.

Level 3 award in electric/hybrid vehicle system repair and replacement

Designed for learners who maintain and repair electric/hybrid vehicles. Includes all the knowledge and skills required to work safely in and around the vehicle's high- and low-voltage electrical systems and electric drive train systems whilst carrying out repairs or maintenance.

Level 4 award in the diagnosis, testing and repair of electric/hybrid vehicles and components

Designed for learners who maintain and repair electric/hybrid vehicles with the knowledge and skills required to work on live high-voltage vehicle electrical components and associated systems.

Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) TechSafe™ professional registration

The IMI TechSafe™ is a professional recognition within the IMI Professional Register. It identifies member’s professionalism and safe working practice in the field of electric vehicles (EV) and other safety-critical vehicle systems such as Autonomous or Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
