Designed for technicians who maintain and repair electric/hybrid high voltage vehicle systems and components. It contains the knowledge and skills required to work on live high voltage vehicle electrical components and associated systems. This is the first qualification of its kind to address working on live electric/hybrid vehicle high voltage vehicle systems and components. Upon completion, technicians will be able to practically demonstrate that they have the skills required to repair high voltage vehicle electrical components and systems.
Topics covered: Battery Construction/Storage Electrical Theory/Measurements/Evolution of battery technology, Tools and Equipment, Electrical Measurements, Brakes Systems, Future of Green Technologies Industry Workshop. Advancements to Battery Technology, Roadside Accidents/Breakdowns — Transport, Power Trains, Fault Finding/Diagnostics Shutdown Procedures and Removal/Replace tasks.
Note: The unit can only be undertaken after successful completion of Unit EV3 Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement, or by completing the Learner Eligibility form providing evidence of related/relevant experience.
This unit does not cover commercial or domestic electrical installations including charging equipment and cables.
