Raytheon UK has been selected by General Dynamics UK to supply the Chassis Power Switch Node for the Scout variant of the Specialist Vehicle (SV) programme demonstration phase. Raytheon UK’s High Density Power Switch Node is a key component in the platform’s power management and distribution system.

The Scout reconnaissance vehicle is planned to be a key variant in the British Army’s Scout SV fleet. It will serve alongside other SV variants, including Recce Armoured Personnel, protected mobility, repair and recovery vehicles.

Jim Trail, site executive for Raytheon UK’s Glenrothes facility, said, “Raytheon UK has exported thousands of power subsystems globally over the past five years, and the Power Switch Node is one of the latest in our developing platform power subsystems portfolio. Our business is well positioned through recent new product investment to provide competitive solutions for future programmes. This contract bolsters Raytheon’s working relationship with General Dynamics and contributes to the component technology manufacturing excellence based in Scotland.”

General Dynamics UK will integrate the Power Switch Nodes onto the Scout SV platform.

About Raytheon UK’s Power Switch Nodes

The Power Switch Node is one of the latest in Raytheon UK’s developing platform power subsystems portfolio with CANBus and MilCAN interfaces. In addition to providing a means of efficiently switching power to the platform power consumers, Raytheon UK’s ITAR-free Power Switch Node facilitates the monitoring of consumer current, voltage, temperature and elapsed time data which is available on the platform’s MilCAN Interface. The Power Node Outputs can be configured for parallel load sharing and/or as H-Bridge Outputs to drive active loads. The Power Switch Node is aligned to Def-Stan 23-09 for Generic Vehicle Architecture (GVA), facilitating connection into the vehicle’s Electronic Architecture.
