Raytheon Systems Limited (RSL) is working to advance the speed of military operations through a contract with the U.K. Ministry of Defence (MOD) to deliver a Defence Targeting Toolset (DTT) capability.
Aimed initially at Land operations and eventually benefiting Joint operations, DTT will provide a tool set of software applications for the MOD.
DTT delivers coordinated effects with limited resources, by enabling coherent planning for targeting and operations. It will also improve the ability to prosecute Time Sensitive Targets.
Graeme Myers, RSL’s head of Network Centric System Defence projects, said: “This represents an innovative opportunity to get significant improvements deployed to theatre quickly. During the assessment phase we partnered with Artillery Systems to ensure the best approach for the military user communities. DTT will enable a tighter, more coherent targeting process, propelling land environment targeting to the forefront of military technology.”
Building on existing applications, and developing new ones as required, DTT will substantially improve both operational tempo and freedom of operation while reducing error.
Mark Bunyan, MOD Artillery Systems IPT Lead, said: “We are delighted to be working with Raytheon on this important project. By providing appropriate software tools that communicate with each other over strategic to tactical data networks DTT will allow us to automate targeting and connect real benefits to the users.”
